Abstract

System Engineering (SE) encompasses information from different engineering to provide technical developments for planning and developing complex systems. Although many system developers apply SE stages by the book, sometimes they fail to provide the required system. This lack of achievement resides in two problems. First problem is the requirements set by the stakeholders usually are not clear or unreasonable. Second problem is the current education and training of SE. There is a need for training the stakeholders about how to set clear and reasonable requirements. SE education should focus in teaching the holistic approach and ability to think in complex systems. We have come up with a training solution that will not only help SE students gain the system oriented and holistic approach, but also will be a platform where future stakeholders and engineers alike will come together in training. We believe that, the solution lies with game based learning and serious games. This idea was analyzed with using currently available creative game Robocraft. This analysis was realized by applying tests to the groups consisting of students from Application of System Engineering Applications Class in the Technology Management Department of Turkish Military Academy Defense Sciences Institute. The results of analysis and further planned studies will be presented in this paper.
