Abstract

Since 2011, the world has faced with mass civil unrests, civil wars, home grown terrorism, insurgency, rapid tactical change on asymmetrical war, internal power struggles, terrorist groups reaching rouge state status and various cyber security concerns and attacks. Confranted with this rapid and shocking changes, countries rushed to implant new sets of security policies. Both the events and new polices have had deep impacts on internal balance of the countries. I believe, while forming security polices, there are key actors that shape the decision making process. At the same time, the same actors have unique reactions to major security events, forming a reaction and action cycle around security policy making process. In my research, I will create case studies from major security events beginning from the Syrian Conflict, with the purpose of analyzing reactions of government and non-government intuitions after major security events. I believe, this study will help us understand how security policy making process works in various countries. It will help to put together a big picture of security policies and security events in form of a timeline.
